Nextera Energy - Transatlantic bolt technology

Our latest project involved delivery of transatlantic training and inspections with NextEra Energy, Inc. at Windstar wind farm. The EchoBolt team led Windstar technicians through a series of training activities using our innovative ultrasonic bolt load measurement technique. From the classroom to supervised training inspections and post inspection data management, the team completed validation of bolt preload across a sample of turbines.

As a first project in the fleet, there is significant potential to shape the future integrity management of NextEra Energy’s wind assets, supporting elimination of bolt retightening, improving health and safety and reducing maintenance costs. Thank you to the Windstar team for their engagement and enthusiasm in this project despite the challenging winter weather conditions.
