June 23rd 2025 marks the 12th annual International Women in Engineering Day – a global celebration of the achievements and contributions of women in the engineering sector.

Did you know that women still represent less than 17% of the engineering and technology workforce compared to 56% across all other occupations? Theres clearly still work to be done. But here at EchoBolt we’re pround to be ahead of the curve: nearly one-third (33%) of our team is female – almost double the industry average.
We’re committed to increasing representation and creating opportunities for women in engineering , both within our company and across the wider industry. Recently our founder, Pete Andrews, attended the Renewable UK Global Offshore Wind Conference in London, where he brought along his niece to give her an early glimpse into the world of engineering. It's just one small way we’re helping to inspire the next generation.
Engineering thrives on collaboration, Innovation and the diverse perspectives that individuals bring to the table. Today we celebrate all the brilliant women at EchoBolt, but we’d like to give a special shout-out to Claire Burgess our Commercial Manager, whose journey is inspirational.
Claire studied Aeronautical Engineeing at the University of Bath where she was one of only a handful of women on her course – meaning it didn’t go unnoticed if she skipped a lecture!
She has played key roles in the development and delivery of major energy infrastructure projects, including overseeing one of the largest ever upgrades to a UK power station – a project that required the use of the worlds' largest crane to lift key components into place!
Her career has taken her beyond the UK to live and work in Germany and France while building relationships and delivering engineering solutions for international customers around the globe. Today she leads all business development and commercial activities at EchoBolt, drawing on her extensive expertise in commercial strategy, project delivery and people management.
With professional credentials that include Chartered Engineer (CEng) Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (MIMechE) and MSc qualifications, Claire brings more than just technical excellence to the team. She embodies this year’s INWED theme Together We Engineer a true collaborator, always generous with her time, knowledge and support for others.
And if that wasn’t impressive enough, she does this while raising 5-year old twin boys!
We’re proud to celebrate Claire today – not only for her outstanding contributions to EchoBolt and the Energy sector, but for the energy, compassion and leadership she brings to everything she does.
