About the Role
As a Junior Ruby on Rails Developer joining our team, you will play a key role in designing and building both existing and new application features.
The role requires that you are comfortable assuming responsibility and autonomy to deliver production-ready code on-time. You will be responsible for improving scalability and functionality of existing systems by identifying areas for improvement and performance bottlenecks.
Additionally, you will actively investigate and promote new technologies and practices and show a willingness to voice opinion and learn.
The role will include an opportunity to carry out site inspections on offshore wind farms to gain insight into the real world applicaiton of our software tools. Full offshore wind farm certification will be provided including GWO Basic Safety Training – Sea Survival Training, Fire Awareness Training, Manual Handling Training, First Aid Training and Working at Height Training.
Ruby on Rails experience
Testing experience and writing testable code
Relational database experience (we use Postgres)
Background Processing using Sidekiq
University Degree in Computer Science or related subject

Able to work with cloud technologies and the use of DevOps tools.
We are looking for someone who enjoys the challenge of trying to find solutions to problems and pushes themselves to look for new ways of doing things as part of a modern diverse team.
Possess excellent communication skills and be able to articulate technical issues clearly and accurately to non-technical members of the team
Be willing and able to occasionally travel both domestically and internationally for client site visits and team collaboration.
Salary and Working Arrangements
Salary range £25k - £35k (depending on skills and experience)
Paid hours per week: 37.5
Flexible working arrangements can be implemented to suit individual candidates needs.
